ASHMOLIAN - FAKENHAM GLORY GALLERY,
23rd May 2010 - Champion's 60:60 Charity Challenge Novice Handicap Hurdle
15 minutes to the off, and Ashmolian is pondering whether it is too hot to bother with racing - and it is definitely not cheekpieces weather
Once Gemma is on board, he realises that they have passed the point of no return, participation wise, so may as well look a little fascinated
This far behind the rest of the runners at halfway is Ashmolian's perfect plan for aggro avoidance
Having taken a fair while to pull up, the result has just been announced and everyone is rather chuffed, plus Ashmolian is thinking that if he keeps up this rate of two wins per week, he can be neck and neck with Gemma for career totals at the end of July. In the heat of the moment, he has not thought this through properly
Ashmolian plonks himself by an appropriate sign, but he did resent having to walk past the water buckets
"I know everyone thought that I had not got there, but the situation was always in hand, and I knew I would always get there, and it was quite hot, and I knew I would stay three miles, and there was a seagull on the rails in the back straight, which was nice, and perhaps we can get some shrimp from the seafood stall, and by being in the first race we will at least be home in time for Family Guy, and can I have another drink of water, wait isn't that John Hurt, and has anyone got a fan..." An over-stimulated Ashmolian goes on and on and on in this vein for another three hours.
Two Bob Champions for the price of one, the real one is the one labelled fake and not trying to run-off with one of the trophies. |
