OWNERSHIP Anyone wishing to get involved with ownership in the yard can contact Zoe on 07812 007554 (alternatively Andy on 07970 839357) at Shovelstrode Stud Racing Stables, Shovelstrode Lane, Ashurstwood, East Grinstead, Sussex, RH19 3YN. There are a variety of options available, including on horses bred at Shovelstrode, from dams that raced for us.
SOLE OWNERSHIP - the horse is owned by a single individual. SYNDICATION - the horse is owned by a group of up to twenty shareholders. All sizes of syndicate are catered for, and there are often shares available in existing syndicates. LEASE - as per the previous options, except that the horse(s) are acquired on a lease, usually for a minimum of a year, and not purchased outright, although a 'right to buy' clause can be included in the lease. SHOVELSTRODE RACING CLUB - membership of the club is always open and costs a fixed fee of £15 per month.
Andy leads Spider Boy into the winner's enclosure at Kempton after an epic duel with Punjabi. THE SECRET CIRCLE - an established syndicate with horses already in the yard, always open to new members. With sole ownership and syndication, all costs and all prize-money goes are for the registered owner(s), but for the other options the terms are subject to agreement at the time of lease or joining. Please also note that training and racing fees are all subject to VAT, but the British Horseracing Authority do have an established scheme by which the VAT can be deemed recoverable.
